France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program 2026 Fully Funded
The France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program 2026 call for applications is now open. This prestigious fully funded scholarship was updated 3 hours ago today and is established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in their masters and PhD programs.
It gives opportunity to the future foreign decision-makers of the private and public sectors, in priority areas of study, and encourages applicants from foreign countries up to 29 years old at master's level, and up to 35 years old at PhD level. This is one of the most competitive and fully funded scholarships in France.
About Eiffel Scholarship
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established to attract the best international students to French universities and grandes ecoles. Over 500 French institutions participate. The scholarship is named after Gustave Eiffel and is managed by Campus France.
Only applications submitted by French higher education institutions are accepted. Students cannot apply directly, they must be nominated by a French university where they have applied for admission. So first apply to French university, then university nominates you to Campus France for Eiffel scholarship.
Scholarship Benefits
The Eiffel scholarship benefits are very generous:
- Master's level: €1,200 per month as of January 2026, in addition to certain direct services.
- PhD level: €2,100 per month as of January 2026, in addition to certain direct services.
- International transportation: Round-trip international flight ticket.
- National transportation: Train travel within France.
- Insurance: Supplementary health insurance (mutuelle).
- Housing searches assistance and cultural activities.
- Visa fee exemption and priority for student housing.
- Note: Tuition fees are not covered by the France Excellence Eiffel program, but public universities charge low fees and many exempt Eiffel scholars from higher fees for non-European students.
Duration of Scholarship
Master's level:
- A maximum of 12 months when enrolling in M2 (Year 2 of Master's degree).
- A maximum of 24 months when enrolling in M1 (Year 1 of Master's degree).
- A maximum of 36 months for the completion of an engineering degree depending on year of admission.
Doctorate level:
- 36 months on condition of enrollment in 1st year of PhD for newly arriving students only who are not currently studying in France.
- 12 months for enrollment in 2nd or 3rd year of PhD.
- 18 months for enrollment in 1st or 2nd year of PhD under co-supervision or co-direction programs.
- Possibility of splitting the stay.
Eligible Fields of Study
The fields of study eligible for the Eiffel Scholarship are:
- Science and technology: Biology and health, Ecological transition, Mathematics and digital sciences, Engineering sciences.
- Humanities and social sciences: French history, language and civilization, Law and political science, Economics and management.
The French history, language and civilization field is exclusively centered on the French language.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-French nationality, foreign students only.
- Age limit: Up to 29 years old at master level born after 31 March 1996, up to 35 years old at PhD level born after 31 March 1990.
- Excellent academic background with honors and high ranking.
- Must apply to French institution first, institution must nominate you.
- Language: English or French proficiency depending on program.

- Opening of the call for applications: October 1, 2025.
- Deadline for reception of applications by Campus France: January 8, 2026 included.
- Publication of results: From 30th March, 2026.

How to Apply
Steps:
- Choose a French university and master or PhD program in eligible fields.
- Apply for admission to that program before November-December 2025.
- Contact the international office of the university and express interest in Eiffel scholarship, they will provide application files.
- Prepare documents: Copy of identity document, CV max 2 pages in French or English, qualifications and ranking, copies of most recent diplomas, transcripts of last 3 years, career plans 1-2 pages, thesis proposal max 5 pages for PhD, language certificate, expert opinion on thesis quality for PhD.
- University submits your application online via dedicated Campus France platform.
